What Are The Test For Bipolar Disorder And What Are The Common Causes Of The Condition.

Bipolar disorder is a condition wherein there is sudden shift of moods of an individual that may be due to various factors. Depending on the individual's case, there can be a lot of factors to consider as to the result of this condition. For the first appearance of symptoms of the condition, it is best to ask for advice and undergo series of test for bipolar disorder as to prevent the condition from worsening. If the condition is left to be untreated or if the person will not undergo therapies or counseling, there is a big possibility that he or she will lose his job and the people who are around him. Individuals with bipolar disorders would usually be presenting symptoms such as those with anxiety or depression. This is the reason why for some individuals, this condition is undiagnosed because it can easily be mistaken as usual depression or anxiety. Common causes of bipolar disorder would be due to the environmental surroundings. As the individual tend to mature, he or she is faced with more stress in his or her life.

When the individual is unable to cope with stress well and if the stressor continues to be present, there is a big possibility that from anxiety, it will fall into bipolar disorder. For some, it was also believed that the chemicals on the brains that are known as the neurotransmitters are responsible for the said condition. With the help of medical assessment and test for bipolar disorder, this would detect if the neurotransmitters are indeed responsible for the medical condition. These are only the most common causes of the disorder, because other causes are still unknown even up to now. The test for bipolar disorder can be in form of physical examination, laboratory tests, psychological examinations and mood charting. In physical examination, usual assessment would be done such as the measurement of height and weight, your vital signs would be checked and so on. This will evaluate on how your body system is coping from the stressors that are induced to you by the external stimuli.

An overall inspection of your body, from head to toe, will be done in manners of IPPA- inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation. The laboratory tests will soon follow. Blood and urine samples would usually be taken and tested. Through these tests, the physician would be able to have an idea on what causes your presenting symptoms. Then, the physician will evaluate your mental health and capabilities. This can be done by a series of interviews that will touch various topics, including your thoughts, patterns or behaviors, feelings and reactions toward specific conditions. For some, they would require you to answer a questionnaire. Lastly, mood charting would be done as to assess how fast your mood shifts from one to another. Aside from your mood, your sleeping pattern will also be monitored during the entire course of the treatment. In this way, the physicians would be able to assess whether or not you are responding effectively to the medications and treatments well.
